About Auth/Technic

What we do

Auth/Technic designs and builds production-ready software from concept to launch… and we do it in a way that's meant to survive handoffs, growth, and changing realities.

We're here for teams who are moving fast, carrying real operational risk, and don't want today's software decisions to become tomorrow's constraints.

How the studio works

Auth/Technic is built around one principal: when you hire the studio, you work directly with the person designing and building your software. There's no account manager between you and the work, and nothing gets lost in translation.

And when a project calls for more than one set of hands, we bring in trusted specialists... designers, process architects, HR professionals, subject-matter experts... for exactly the phase that needs them. You always know who's doing what, and why they're there.

Why partner with us

Most software fails slowly and quietly… not because the team wasn't smart, but because the system they constructed became difficult to understand, hard to change, and even risky to touch. Over time, both the people who built it and the people who bought it moved on, but the bills keep coming and the technical debt continues to mount.

Auth/Technic is different. We craft systems that stay legible, tools that make the work visible, and processes that reduce stress instead of increasing it. We plan intensely, document thoroughly and explain freely, and we love doing it.

We're not interested in shipping chaos quickly. We're interested in creating value and delivering clarity.

Simple.

The system is easier to explain than the problem it solves.

Elegant.

The pieces fit together cleanly and properly.

Useful.

The work gets calmer, faster, and more reliable.

Technical expertise

The "we" starts here. From Alex Martin, founder:

I bring deep, hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of modern software systems... from early concept and architecture through production deployment and long-term operation. My work spans backend services, data modeling, APIs, frontend applications, infrastructure, and build pipelines, focused on systems that must be reliable, understandable, and safe to evolve.

I've been developing software and information systems since the late 1990s... building from the ground up, stabilizing and modernizing existing tools, and designing internal processes that support real operational workflows. Across all of it, the emphasis is the same: clear structure, explicit decision-making, and practical software that enables talented people to work better.

The nature of work

Good work is quiet, deliberate, and durable. It shows respect for the craft, for the people who rely on it, and for those who will inherit it after.
